My dream finds me in some apartment I'm not aware of in the normal planes of existence - probably some amalgam of the places I've lived in over the course of my life. I get the sense it's in Texas based on the temperature and general aesthetic.

Anyway, my main goal is to find a replacement part for my laptop. I've been walking around for awhile and recently noticed that the bottom cover of this pale seafoam-green computer has slid open and the foam filter (yeah, I know that makes no sense, that's why I journal these things) has melted and disintegrated. I need to find a replacement filter, but I have no idea where to get one.

Meanwhile, I have to shoo a large insect away from my front door. This thing looks dangerous, considering it appears to be a hybrid of a black scorpion, a black widow spider's distinctive markings, and a stink bug. I hate insects to begin with, and this thing makes me not want to re-enter my apartment.

I find myself on a cell phone (I seem to recall it being my old Kyocera push-button, LCD-screen cell phone, the first I ever bought (for $20 at the campus bookstore. I miss Virgin Mobile) to call my husband, Tyler. My concerns about the foam filter and the bug are quickly forgotten, however, when Tyler arrives home. He looks different. He's wafer-thin as he hugs me. It feels strange. He also is wearing an airline pilot's uniform.

This confuses me, as he works in local TV just like me. But, in reality, his job's future is in serious doubt thanks to tech/AI upgrades at the station.

He's gotten his pilot's license, he informs me, and he has a new job lined up.

But it's based out of Ibiza, of all places. Somewhere we've never been (we're trying to get our first-ever passports for a trip later this year).

But I agree, we have to take this job. $5,000 a month - we'd be crazy not to.

Then I find myself on my phone talking with my aunt, who forbids us from moving. But we're going to anyway.

And then I wake up.
